IIOE National Center Pakistan at UET Lahore Participated in the Launch Ceremony of IIOE Pilot Project in Mongolia
Blended Learning Capacity Building for STEM Teachers, an IIOE pilot project in Mongolia, had its formal launch event on September 22, 2022, which was jointly hosted by UNESCO-ICHEI and the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST). International experts and academics in the fields of blended learning and teacher professional development, as well as representatives from UNESCO, the Mongolian Ministry of Education and Science, the Mongolian National Commission for UNESCO, MUST, and other Mongolian universities, were present for the project’s launch.
The initiative also underwent peer assessment by professionals from around the world. Prof. Waqar Mahmood, Director of the Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science at the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, Pakistan, and Coordinator of the IIOE National Center in Pakistan, joined other experts in recognising the initiative of UNESCO-ICHEI to launch the IIOE pilot project at partner institutions to address the key issues of digitization in higher education and respond to national priorities. He also anticipated positive results from the project.
Prof. LI Ming expressed his appreciation for everyone’s attention to and commitment to the Mongolian pilot project in his concluding remarks. The pilot design has taken into account the characteristics and needs of Mongolia and MUST, which can result in some customised and localised experiences that can be shared and scaled up in the future. He noted that improving the digital competency of university teachers in blended learning is the core and foundation of the digital transformation of higher education. According to him, UNESCO-ICHEI will collaborate with IIOE’s partner institutions across the world to create the IIOE Development Report 2019–2022, which will assess the successful blended learning experiences and practises of partner institutions and look at how IIOE can better support partner universities’ digital transformation.

On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, KICS UET Lahore and NAVTTC organized competitions among students
On the occasion of the 75th Independence Day of Pakistan, Al-Khwarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore, and the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) organized competitions among students. More than 100 students participated in Husn-e-Qirat Competition, Naat Competition, Declamation Contest, and National Song Competition. Director KICS, Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood graced the event as a Chief Guest. Manager Trainings, Mr. Kashif Bashir, Mr. Rehan Tariq, Mr. Aqeel Babar, Mr. Muzammil Hassan, Mr. Syed Imran Ali Shah, Mr. Abid Khan, Mr. Farhan Riaz, Mr. Hafiz Usman, Mr. Hafiz Atif, Mr. Hafiz Mubashir Javed, and Mr. Umair Farooq performed their duties as judges.

Students of different courses, instructors, and staff members of KICS attended the event. Director KICS, Dr. Waqar Mahmood addressed the students and told them about the struggle for the freedom of Pakistan and instructed the students to work on their own for the betterment of the country. At the end of the event, the winning students were awarded prizes while the judges and organizers were awarded honorary shields by Director KICS-UET Lahore, Dr. Waqar Mahmood, and Manager Trainings, Mr. Kashif Bashir.

IIOE Online Courses Competition Result Announcement

2022 has continued to witness the widespread COVID-19 pandemic and its persistent disruptions on higher education. COVID-19 has forced higher education institutions to actively adopt online and blended teaching and learning (OBTL) as a solution. To impart advanced knowledge regarding the usage of new technology, IIOE has partnered with seewo, a pioneer in digital campus hardware tools production and information-based teaching ability training, in a series of collaborations. The first IIOE Online Courses Competition is one of the first in this series. The competition is divided into two parts: the Courseware Competition and the Video Course Competition.
Courseware Competition Part: On 12th January, the first IIOE Online Courses Competition-Courseware Competition has successfully ended. Since its inception on November 1, 2021, more than 210 teachers from 45 countries around the world have participated in this competition and submitted courses with quality and innovation. All submitted works have been strictly evaluated by our panel of experts and finally, 16 entrants from 9 countries have won the prize.
