“Pakistani Youth Can Solve Energy Crises of the Country,” says Chairman HEC at ICECE 2024 Closing Ceremony

The 7th edition of the International Conference on Energy Conservation & Efficiency (ICECE), hosted by the Centre for Energy Research & Development (CERAD) at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, culminated with a resounding call for collaborative efforts to address Pakistan’s energy crisis. The conference, held over two days, brought together leading experts, researchers, and industry professionals from around the world to explore innovative solutions in the field of energy conservation and efficiency.

The closing ceremony of the conference, held at UET Lahore, was graced by the esteemed presence of Professor Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), who attended as the Chief Guest. Dr. Ahmad, in his keynote address, underscored the critical need for strategic collaboration between academic institutions and the industry to leverage ongoing research and equip the youth with the requisite skills to tackle Pakistan’s energy challenges.

“Pakistani youth can solve energy crises of the country, if provided with right tools and technology,” remarked Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad. “They are the smartest people on earth who can solve any problem.”
The conference, a flagship event of CERAD UET Lahore, showcased cutting-edge research and advancements in energy conservation and efficiency. With the participation of renowned speakers and experts from prestigious universities and industries worldwide, ICECE 2024 facilitated engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and valuable networking opportunities.
Key highlights of the conference included the presentation of 33 top-quality research papers selected by the Technical Evaluation Committee, a panel discussion on “Industrial Academia Linkages in Energy Sector,” and an exposition featuring products from various research labs and industries.

During the closing ceremony, certificates were distributed to the participants and organizers, and winners of the students’ competitions were announced and awarded prizes, including cash rewards totaling up to Rs. 100,000.
The success of ICECE 2024 underscores CERAD UET Lahore’s commitment to driving innovation and collaboration in the field of energy sustainability.
