KICS UET Conferred with a Project – Roadmap Development for Induction Motors and Pumps in Punjab
KICS UET Lahore has been conferred with a project named ‘Roadmap Development for Induction Motors and Pumps in Punjab’. This project aims to reduce the technology gap that exists by defining minimum energy performance standards (MEPS) for Induction Motors and Pumps through academic research in relevance to the socio economic conditions of Pakistan. The project will serve as a roadmap for the smooth transition to energy efficient induction motor and pump systems by diffusing technical and statistical data from industry to academia.
This venture is marvelous and is laced with numerous objectives such as:
- The results of this program will form the basis for industry benchmarking, raise awareness in energy efficiency performance in agriculture, municipal and domestic motor and pumping systems.
- It will help to catalyze conservation efforts in order to minimize the amount of energy consumed by these systems and, in doing so, achieve huge energy saving potential
- Providing support to motor and pump manufacturing Industry to increase its export volume by competing with international pump performance standards.
- Enhancing the scope of industry-academia linkage.
The main purpose of this project is to provide a roadmap to introduce energy efficient induction motors and pumps in Pakistan especially in Punjab (which is a main hub for energy consumption in regard of domestic, agricultural and industrial sectors) will serve as a vital tool to enable Pakistan to become a self-sufficient in motor and pump technology.
