Dr. Waqar Mahmood Talks about Smart Grid at Lahore Garrison University

National Workshop on Smart Grid 2018 took place in Lahore Garrison University (LGU) on 10th April. The noted speakers attended this event and delivered their speeches on the core subject of ‘Smart Grid’. The catchline of the event was ‘empowering engineers for future grids’. The ceremony was opened by the Vice Chancellor LGU Major General (R) Obaid Bin Zakria. The entire ceremony consisted of two sessions – Existing Grid Practices and Basic Introduction to Smart Grid (First) and Challenges, Solution and Related Technologies (Second). 

Dr. Waqar Mahmood, Director KICS UET Lahore, was the guest of honor. He talked on ‘Introduction to Smart Grids’ in detail. He also revealed KICS’ projects revolving around smart grid technology. Dr. Waqar then spoke about the power sector problems and its improvements.   

The event featured other speeches as well such as Existing Practices and Challenges (By Director Power Cluster LUMS Mr. Nauman Zafar), Energy Crisis and Remedial Measures (By Dean Faculty EE, UET Dr. Sohail Aftab Qureshi), Short Review of Smart Grids in Schneider Electric and Smart Grid Solutions (By Dr. Bilal Arif from Schneider Electric) and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (Engr. Mr. Sultan). 

The event wrapped up with certificates’ distributions among the guests of the ceremony.
