2-Day Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Conservation Held in UET Lahore (23rd to 24th April 2019)
National Workshop on Energy Efficiency and Conservation 2019 took place at University of Engineering and Technology Lahore in collaboration with PEECA (Punjab Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency), KICS and CERAD-UET. It was a two-day workshop which opening ceremony held at university’s main auditorium on 23rd April 2019 where Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood (Director KICS and CERAD UET) delivered a welcome note to the guests, invited speakers and attendants. He talked about the energy conservation activities and projects happening at the university. Mr. Abdul Rahman (Program Manager PEECA) gave an introductory overview on the topic of energy efficiency and conservation.
The speakers at the workshop were from UET Lahore, UET Kala Shah Kako Campus and LUMS. The first day was laced with various presentations delivered by the invited speakers. Topics like Waste to Energy, Bench Marking for Energy, Energy Efficiency, Lithum-Ion Storage, Energy Efficiency in Industries and Material and Energy Loss Prevention were discussed in detail which the audience liked a lot.
Second day i.e. 24th April 2019 started with a presentation on the subject of ‘Energy Efficiency in Buildings’. Following presentations took place on the topics – ‘Thin Film Evaporation’, ‘Smart Designing Effects of Energy Efficient Retrofits on Solarization Cost’ and ‘Low Power Fan’. The large majority of the participants took a deep interest in all of the presentations. Keen interest in the topics was shown through the questions and answers sessions followed by every presentation.
Closing remarks were delivered by Muhammad Ali (Senior Manager Energy Efficiency Lab, KICS/CERAD UET Lahore). Certification distribution ceremony was held later where the participants were conferred with the certificates. Dr. Waqar Mahmood endowed the speakers with shields. It was a thorough informative workshop which enlightened the much-needed subject of energy efficiency and conservation. The knowledge to convey the message of energy conservation was well delivered to the audience as it is widely needed in our country where we have been suffering from the energy crisis a lot. The workshop like this was much needed and it was much appreciated by all and sundry.
