Under the banner of the International Conference on Open-Source Systems & Technologies (ICOSST) 2021, a student competition \u201cBRAINIAC\u201921\u201d was organized by Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), UET Lahore with co-sponsorship of IEEE ComSoc Lahore Chapter on 14-16 December 2021. This was the first on-campus event after COVID19 where students from various universities of the country participated zealously.<\/p>\n

BRAINIAC is a national technical competition that provides opportunities for students to enhance and showcase their technical skills through a country-wide competition and win attractive cash prizes.\u00a0The 3-day competition comprises different modules including project video, full-stack functional website, code champ, circuit genie, math gauge, and league of your own (gaming competition)<\/strong>\u00a0in which students unleashed their technical skills and cherished a healthy competitive environment with the cash prizes of Rs. 1 Lac.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Around 180 participants from the universities including the University of Lahore, Information Technology University, FAST National University, Punjab University College of Information & Technology, and other campuses of the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore<\/strong> participated in the competition. The judges’ panel consisted of Dr. Ubaid Ullah, Dr. Umar Tabraiz Shami, Mr. Salman Fakhar, Mr. Umer Shahid, Mr. Muzammil Hassan, Mr. Rehan Naeem from the faculty of the University of Engineering & Technology Lahore.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the last day of the module \u2018league of your own, there was an elimination-based surprise game competition for the finalists that was revealed a day before. In this module the competition of a very famous console game, Tekken-7 was conducted.<\/p>\n

The winners of all the modules were announced at the closing ceremony of the 15th International Conference on Open-Source Systems & Technologies (ICOSST) 2021.\u00a0\u201cThe technical competitions foster the mindset that allows creativity to grow\u201d<\/strong>, said Vice Chancellor UET Lahore, Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar while speaking at the closing ceremony. Worthy Vice-Chancellor UET along with Director Al-Khawarizmi Institute of Computer Science (KICS), Prof. Dr. Waqar Mahmood distributed the\u00a0cash prizes of Rs. 100,000 amongst the winners<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The event came to an end with a group photo of participants and the organizers of BRAINIAC\u201921 with distinguished guests.<\/p>\n
