KICS to Develop Emotional Speech Corpus for Urdu and to Develop Linguistic Resources
Center for Language Engineering lab of KICS UET Lahore brings up its latest project titled ‘Urdu Text to Speech: Integrating Prosody of Emotions’. The project is quite interesting and grabs the attention. It carries numerous objectives such as:
- Developing emotional speech corpus for Urdu that is prosodically and syntactically annotated.
- Developing linguistic resources to concretely represent such analyses, for further research and development in linguistics and computational work.
- Conducting joint research and produce joint, collaborative publications with former and current PhD students at UET and KN.
- Extending the existing relationship between German and Pakistan universities, to include more senior and junior researchers on both sides.
- Extending course curricula in linguistics and computational linguistics reflecting the results of the project.
- Conducting workshops and seminars to train the teachers and the young researchers in the field of prosody.
