Industry Expert Talk: Unlocking Global Opportunities in Cloud and Data Engineering
On August 4, 2025, the KICS Department at UET Lahore proudly hosted a distinguished session featuring Mr. Farhan Chaudhry, a Senior Data Engineer, BI Specialist, and Cognos Administrator currently based in Yorktown Heights, New York, United States. This insightful event was organized as part of the Huawei HCCDA cloud training program, attracting numerous enthusiastic students eager to learn from Mr. Farhan’s extensive experience and inspiring career journey. The session commenced with a warm welcome by Mr. Kashif Bashir, Senior Manager of Training, who introduced Mr. Farhan and highlighted the value of industry-academia collaboration in equipping students with real-world insights. Mr. Farhan shared his impressive professional story, which spans over two decades, beginning with his foundational years as a Software Engineer at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, and culminating in senior roles at prestigious organizations such as IBM, Cognizant, and currently Share-ify in the United States.
During his presentation, Mr. Farhan emphasized the importance of continuous learning, adaptability, and technical excellence in advancing one’s career. He narrated his transition from Pakistan to the U.S. job market, detailing the challenges he overcame and the strategies he employed to secure positions in leading multinational companies. His journey reflected a blend of strong technical skills, including expertise in data engineering, business intelligence, and full-stack development, alongside effective communication and problem-solving abilities. The interactive session sparked great curiosity among the students, who actively engaged by asking numerous questions about how to secure jobs abroad, especially in the competitive U.S. market, and how to navigate visa processes such as the H1 and L1 visas. Mr. Farhan provided practical advice on building a compelling resume, networking effectively, and the significance of certifications like Huawei HCCDA in enhancing one’s employability.
